Study Shows Most Patients With Sports-Related Mild TBIs Take Longer Than Two Weeks To Recover

According to a study published in Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, “most patients with sports-related mild traumatic brain injuries need longer than 14 days to recover. Specifically, the researchers wrote, “Forty-five percent of participants showed clinical recovery within 14 days of injury, 77% by 4 weeks after injury, and 96% by 8 weeks after injury.” Moreover, the researchers said, “Prolonged recovery was more common in females...participants with ‘concussion modifiers’...and with increased time between injury and the initial appointment.”
